I have shown our newly decorated bedroom on Instagram a lot and now its time for the full blog post. Redecorating our Master Bedroom on a Budget; keeping the cost down but with a huge change. We recently wanted to upgrade our master bedroom as it just wasn’t us and had no personality in it at all. Me and Mike both love moody bedrooms so we decided to literally paint the one wall and its made such a huge difference. This is our bedroom before the mini makeover. Very grey and just, well, boring.

Everything was in good condition, the bed, the bedside tables, the curtains, everything. So, I bought a tin of Frenchic Nougat paint and painted the bedside tables and I’m shocked at the difference. They look so much more modern and add such character to the room. I also painted an old vase in the same shade to tie in the pink in the room. The bed is the exact same I just purchased some new scatter cushions and a matching throw to bring in some more dusky pink and a pop of teal.

The biggest change comes from the dark wall behind our bed; we painted the wall in Farrow and Ball Hague Blue colour matched by The Decorating Centre Online. It is such a gorgeous colour and I have wanted it somewhere in my house since the first time it caught my eye on Instagram. I have gone a little Hague Blue mad and it’s now all over the house. Our old lamps really made me cringe and I really hated them but all the ones I personally liked were way out of our budget. We really wanted to keep the cost as low as possible because we are hoping to sell this home and move this year.

I was looking through Pinterest for some ideas and I kept seeing really industrial looking bedside lamps that were catching my eye. We didn’t want to get an electrician in so I knew it was going to have to be a plug socket kinda light and I saw a few with just a light bulb cable plugged in with a vintage style bulb. I loved the look but wanted something a little more styled and came across very similar lamps. They were £80 each so I decided to try and recreate the look myself. Links to how I created the lamps below.

I first found the light bulb cable on amazon and bought it in black. I then found these wooden shelf brackets and painted them black using black paint I had at home and then finished off the look with some vintage bulbs. I then wrapped the light bulb cable around the bracket and popped the bulb in. Super warm vintage industrial style lamps for under £20 each. I get so many questions on these and it feels incredible to say that I actually made them. Let me know if you give them a try.

I decorated our bedside tables with plants from my local garden centre; these are just your standard English Ivy, thirsty little plants but look so cute and really help to purify the air at night. The black plant pots are from B&Q. The pink pom pom cushions, monkey cushion and throw are all from Dunelm and the Big Spoon Little Spoon Pillow cases are from The Old English Company (previously gifted).

We really wanted some art for our bedroom so when Desenio said they’d like to collaborate with me I was so excited. Desenio is my go to place for any art and I absolutely love everything they do. As I was going for a black, pink and navy inspired modern edge look I kept the coloured prints pink with some black and white to balance them. I picked 5 prints so they weren’t too symmetrical and used all black frames. I feel like black really modernises your home and just brings everything together.

I chose 2 pink prints and 3 black and white prints. I love how they have turned out and will definitely be going to Desenio for more prints in the future. Desenio have very kindly given me a code for any of my readers to get 25% off all prints from the 11th to the 13th August with the code

I have loved redecorating our master bedroom on a budget. I am in love with how cosy our bedroom now looks and it definitely has tonnes of “us” in there now too. It honestly feels like a lovely little hotel room with our vintage bulbs glowing in the evening.

I am really in awe that this is now my master bedroom; I really really love it. I have tagged everything in this photo with the brands over on my Instagram. I would love to know what you think. I haven’t calculated the cost of the mini makeover completely but I would say all together because we upcycyled a lot of the furniture and added little things it came to under £100. If you would like to see more of my home definitely pop on over to Instagram as I post a lot of home content there and I’m hoping to bring more content to the blog soon too. You can see snippets of my home in our blog posts but if you would love to see more home content please let me know below. I loved redecorating our master bedroom on a budget, let me know if you are working on a budget redecoration.

I love your bed frame, I’ve been dying for a new bed for so long because mines cheapy metal and doesn’t look the best at all. I’d love something like what you’ve got.
