LANELAY HALL HOTEL & SPA REVIEW

20th July 2022 No Comments

We recently visited Lanelay Hall Hotel and Spa for a relaxing Spa Break celebrating my 30th birthday. We went as a couple whilst Elara stayed with my parents and it was one of the most relaxing two nights of my life. It was the first Spa break either of us has ever had so it’s easy for me to say its the best. All jokes aside I have done a lot of spa days and Lanelay Hall is definitely my favourite.

Lanelay Hall Hotel & Spa

I booked our break online with Lanelay Hall directly. We stayed in a Deluxe Suite for 2 nights and loved it. I chose the Deluxe Suite as I really wanted a bath in the room; I absolutely adored the massive bath and had 4 baths in our 2 night stay. We included a spa package with our stay; the spa package included access to the spa facilities for 2 hours, afternoon tea and a treatment of your choice. When you are a staying guest you can also access the spa at resident hours in the morning and evening; these are the best because we were alone in the pool almost the whole time. We love swimming so we spent hours each day swimming then sitting by the pool reading and repeat. It works out cheaper to stay mid week as is the same for most places.

room

Our room was the Deluxe Suite and we stayed in the Loughor Suite; all of the suites have Welsh place names and our’s is actually where Mike grew up. What a coincidence. We had a huge Super King Size bed, which can I say, why don’t all places have because it’s just the best, a seating area, a desk and freestanding bath and an ensuite. The bath was huge and luxurious and I spent so much of my time in there. We even had a fan supplied as it has been so warm this Summer hasn’t it. The room, and the hotel in general, is decorated amazingly and I fell in love. I have actually thought about our time at Lanelay every day since our stay.

What do you need to take?

Literally a bathing suit and you are done. We took two bathing suits each and spent so much time in the pool that only on one occasion the previous swimsuit hadn’t dried fully. I would personally take 3 or 4 next time so I rotate them without worrying. We did also take nicer outfits as this is an incredible hotel and took some lovely photos around the amazing decor. I have posted so many to Instagam but Lanelay Hall is decorated so so well. All towels and robes and even slippers are included. Oh but you do NEED a book. I almost read three entire books in our two night stay and it was utter bliss. This is a readers paradise.

food

We also added breakfast to our stay when we checked in. Breakfast was £15 each and incredible. Honestly the best hotel breakfast I have ever had. There was a mini buffet station, including pastries, fruit, yoghurt and cereals and then you could order one main off the menu. We tried Eggs Benedict, Kedgeree and The Lanelay Breakfast (which was a fancy full english) and it was all incredible. Pots of tea, fresh coffee, juices and water were regularly brought to us and the staff were so kind. We honestly could not fault the breakfast at all. Every item on the menu was available to be made gluten free and there was a huge number of Vegetarian and Vegan meals to choose from too. We didn’t have an evening meal as we didn’t want anything big so ended up ordering a Dominos pizza to our room. Lanelay Hall is in an amazing location and there are tonnes of delivery options available.

occasions

We stayed for my 30th birthday and whilst booking you could add any special requirements; I mentioned that we would be staying a few days after my birthday and we were welcomed to our room with a little birthday surprise. It may be something that they welcome each guest with but it was such a lovely touch.

We also noticed they cater for weddings at Lanelay Hall and as a newly engaged couple we have actually been in touch with the wedding coordinator to possibly have our wedding at Lanelay. How magical would that be.

things to do

As Lanelay Hall has a spa we treated it solely as a spa break so we didn’t leave the hotel for our entire stay. It is near Cardiff if you wanted to pop out for the day but I would highly recommend just staying at the hotel and enjoying the spa and relaxing areas. The hotel is really big and has numerous dining rooms, lovely gardens and of course the spa.

the spa

Onto the best bit. The spa. The spa is decorated (like the rest of the hotel) absolutely beautifully; and has a number of treatment rooms, a large salt water indoor pool, with a log burner at the end. Numerous seating areas and lounges for you to relax on. Two swinging chairs, an outdoor jacuzzi and spa garden. A sauna and incredible lighting. If I was to build myself an indoor pool I would take full inspiration from here. I had a Back, neck and shoulder massage and it was incredible. If I lived closer I would definitely be there more often. I guess I’ll just have to book myself in for spa breaks more regularly. Shame.

We had such an incredible time and just cannot recommend Lanelay Hall Hotel & Spa enough. I have a full room tour as well as more photos over on my Instagram under the Highlight Lanelay Hall. We are hoping to return around Christmas Time this year because it really would look even more incredible in the winter months with a roaring fire in that log burner. We have so many plans to travel over the next couple of years and I will be writing reviews on them all. You can check out our cancelled plans due to covid here.
