MODIBODI REVIEW

MODIBODI REVIEW

4th August 2020 14 Comments

*For full disclosure I have previously been gifted 3 pairs of modibodi knickers. I have also purchased 2 myself. These were gifted as part of an Instagram campaign. This Modibodi review has been written with no obligation.

My modibodi review has been in the making for some time now. I wanted to make sure I had plenty to update you on and I had completed a full week of period completely waste free; and let me tell you it feels amazing to say that. To fully explain to you how much Modidbodi has changed my life I first need to go back in time.

I had my first period around the age of 8 or 9. I was very young and still in Primary school. My periods took a year to become regular and in that time they got heavier and heavier until it became unbearable and I went on the pill at the age of 13. My periods were so heavy that I use to miss a lot of school as I would otherwise bleed through pads, underwear and trousers; I would sometimes wear 2 pads and still bleed through. The turning point that pushed me to going onto the pill was my anaemia. I would lose all energy and be so pale that I would constantly be asked “are you okay?”.

MODIBODI REVIEW

When I started the pill I would take the packets back to back and not have a period for months on end (would not recommend). I felt free; I no longer had to miss parties, swimming in school(stupidly we would only swim once every 4 weeks so a number of us girls would be on our period every single time), no worrying about bleeding through and always having tonnes of energy.

Also, back story, I have never got along with tampons. I got one stuck once and didn’t try it again for years and then the second one I tried also got stuck 🙂 yay. Even as an adult I can’t get them into place and I just give up with them. I came off the pill around 4 years ago now because I was suffering with migraines, not for trying for a baby. My periods had returned to normal before we decided to start trying for Elara and then obviously no periods throughout my pregnancy.

After having Elara my periods returned to their usual heaviness but they wouldn’t effect my anaemia as much; I just found pads really uncomfortable against my episiotomy scar and on top of that I hated the waste I was creating each month. I would go through one heavy pad at least every 45 mins, day and night. It made it pretty much impossible to leave the house when on my period and I would even book the heavier days off work.

MODIBODI REVIEW

Enter modibodi. I saw a post on my friend Caitylis’ Instagram and was like wow a sustainable period alternative that doesn’t have to go inside haha. I reached out to modibodi and I was over the moon that they wanted to work with me. Above, the photo represents how many sanitary pads I would go through in one period, next to the modibodi period knickers that see me through a period and be ready and reusable for the next.

Modibodi are a period underwear brand that make the softest comfiest underwear I have ever found that make my periods so comfy that I forget that I am on my period; I would never ever have believed it if I hadn’t of tried it for myself. My periods are now completely waste free and there is something so freeing about that. You can wear modibodi with a pad if you wanted that extra protection or you can go without like I do. I recommend pushing them to their limits at home when you start to try them out so that you get use to them. Have a lovely day at home and try and do everything you would usually do.

Like I said on a heavy period day I could be changing my pad every 20-45 minutes; with modibodi I wear the heavy/overnight in the classic bikini, not only are they super flattering but they feel super secure, and I can wear them for a whopping 9/10 hours on my heaviest days. No uncomfortableness and no leaks. I recently spent the day out with Elara and Mike walking around a zoo on my heaviest period day and wore my modibodi and honesty I forgot I was on my period. I would never ever of gone on that day out previously while on my period and I’m honestly so thankful for modibodi as they have genuinely changed my life.

I wear my modibodi throughout the day and change into a new pair in the evening which I will then wear to bed. Then fresh pair in the morning and the 2 worn the day before will go in the wash. I have 5 pairs total which is enough for me to wash and hang dry my previous days pairs before needing them for the next day. I use to have terrible nights sleeps while on my period previously as I would have to get up so often thought the night but with modibodi I feel comfortable and dry all night and I sleep so well.

Great post! Thank you for sharing! I’ll have to check them out because they seem very good!

I’ve used modibodi for a couple years now and I love them!! It’s cut my plastic purchasing down massively. I buy the one pack of disposable pads which last me a year. I like to keep one or two in my bag incase of any sudden emergencies, or if I haven’t had chance to wash my modibodis! Caitylis x x

These genuinely sound amazing! I’ve heard really good things about them before the fact you’ve seen such a great result even with really heavy periods is fab. Thanks for sharing x

I had not heard of this product, and am happy to hear it worked so well for you. Wonderful to be able to cut down on plastic, too!

This is a great review. I found it interesting to read your story with periods and found that its not too dissimilar to mine. I’ve been looking at trying period pants for a while now and this has definitely given me the push to try them.

As someone who suffers with bad periods, this post was really helpful and I’m definitely going to purchase some pairs. Thanks so much!

ThAt’s so great! I never heard of modibodi before, but they sound like a brand to try! I have been a menstrual cup user for the last year and won’t look back into pads anymore, but would love to try these! Thanks for sharing x

I’m glad they are working so well for you. Not sure I’m ready to take the leap yet. Just seems so nerve-racking but posts like these make me reconsider.

This really sounds like a life-changing product for many women. Thanks for sharing your story.

I am so tempted to try these. I always struggled with sanitary pads and tampons, and I switched to a cup which has worked beautifully for ten years, but my mobility is decreasing and it’s just not going to be possible for me to continue with them soon.
The modibodi pants sound really good, and comfortable.

This sounds great! It’s my first time knowing about it. Sharing this with the family. it’s a struggle to go through it. Thank you for sharing!

I’m also a modibodi wearer and I absolutely love them! I share your aversion to tampons and hated having to change my pads so regularly so modibodi pants are a dream! I love seeing them get the love they so rightfully deserve!
