White/Silver hair at home

I have been a blonde for most of my life; naturally up until around 14 years old and on/off dyed ever since. My actual hair colour is now what I like to call a dirty blonde. Not dark blonde not light brown kind of an in-between nothing colour. As a toddler I had white blonde hair with absolutely no pigment in it and it gradually got darker until well, today. The underneath of my hair is a lot darker than the top, and around my face my hair gets very light blonde. I also get a lot of natural highlights in the Summer, more like when I go on holiday though, coz ya'know British Summer. I get bored very easily with my hair and like to change it up a lot. I have been every colour you can think of and every length too. If you'd like a hair story let me know in the comments. So bored Katie decides she's going white/silver. Yay!

My before hair was virgin hair (no dye at all) mostly, so I knew it was gonna be a tough job and boy it was. I ended up bleaching my hair 3 times to reach the lightness that I wanted and I still have some bits I would like to bleach again; mainly the hair underneath that was a lot darker than the rest that is still very light blonde and not white. I bleached it twice in one day and then another once a few days later. This is totally not a good idea, your hair my fall out if you do this too. But, I have bleached my own hair at home for years and know what my hair can handle, FYI it's 6 bleach jobs in a row. Straw. To bleach my hair I used the Loreal Paris Preference Hair dye in Extreme Platinum. I have very long hair and needed 2 boxes for one dye job. So 6 boxes later my hair is white. I then used the Jerome Russell BBlonde Silver Toner to create a white/silver tone to my hair. This did go a little patchy but I totally didn't mind and I kinda liked it.

Before and After. Sorry I can only find before's with Snapchat filters, not ashamed to admit the butterfly crown is goals. My hair now is a lot more white/silver in person than it comes across in photos. I absolutely love it. I am going to be going to the hairdressers to get it done when my roots grow through, as I mentioned above, the underneath is still a little darker and the toner, although incredible, starts to fade after one wash. I'm hoping hairdresser grade toner will keep it super silvery for a good month.

I will be updating you on my hair journey over the coming months, as well as updating you on products for white/silver hair and my hair evolution over the years. In the mean time if you want to keep up to date with my hair colour you can follow me on Instagram at katiedoesbeauty or over on snapchat as, you guessed it, katiedoesbeauty.

I absolutely love to travel; the adventure, the newness, the atmosphere, everything. So I thought that I would compile a list of places I really can't wait to visit. In no particular order here are my current Top 10 places I can't wait to visit.

Italy has always been top of my list due to food, Italian is my fave, and the absolutely beautiful cities all over the country. There are a number of places in Italy I would to visit: Venice, Rome, Sorrento, Pompeii and many more. Venice in particular looks absolutely breathtaking. I have always wanted to visit Italy as everyone always has such amazing things to say about it. Back in March I was in Las Vegas, in the Venetian which is based on Venice and when we were walking around the hotel I told my husband, Stephen, that for our first Anniversary we will be visiting Venice. He is slowly coming around to the idea.

South Korea

Me and Stephen have both wanted to visit South Korea for a good couple of years. Stephen mainly for the advanced technology; I really want to experience the culture as well as visit the incredible temples and beautiful scenery. South Korea is so advanced and the standard of living is amongst the highest in the world and their Government is booming.

We have both wanted to visit Canada for a number of years. We want to experience the culture and do typical Canadian things like watch Ice Hockey and visit Tim Hortons. Haha I'm joking but we do want to do those things. We really want to visit Niagara Falls as well as Toronto, Vancouver and Montreal. I would love to experience a proper cold Winter in Canada and relish in the snow. Typical British girl right?! Recently Victoria from InTheFrow vlogged about her trip with TrekCanada and it looked insane. That would be incredible but probably also cost a years mortgage for us.

I have now been to America once and have visited 2/3 states. Nevada and Florida and a layover in Atlanta, Georgia. My absolute dream is to visit every state. I have always had a love and fascination with America. I have always watched and loved American TV and culture and being in America was so amazing and didn't disappoint. I would love to live in America for a little bit or maybe travel the country for a year or so. We will see where life takes me.

Everyone wants to visit Australia right?! I just love the accent and the standard of living is very high. They have great weather, great people and amazing sights. They also have a place named after South Wales (where I live) called New South Wales, which I need to see. The beaches look incredible, and Australians are known for being outdoorsy people, which I love.  The only thing holding me back is the price, to travel from the UK to Aus is v.expensive and the 24 hour flight. Oh lordy.

Me and Stephen holidayed in Mexico around 3 years ago now and it was absolutely beautiful. Looking at it in the holiday brochure it looked incredible and surely the photographs had been photoshoped right? Nope, it is equally as breath-taking maybe even more so with it's beautiful beaches and greenery. I would love to go back and do it all again. We visited the Chitchen Itza, which was insane and as we are both in love with Mayan culture, being there and hearing all the incredible stories was amazing. Truly one of the best holidays ever and we loved it. It's incredibly hot and humid but after a few days you get used to it. For anyone wanting a tan this is the place to go. Me and Stephen both hate sunbathing and being too hot and we still came back more tanned than ever before.

Poland is one of the more difficult ones to write about. Although me and Stephen would both love to explore the cities of Poland and experience the culture. Our main reason for visiting Poland would be to visit Auschwitz. It is such an awful, awful part of History and we both believe that in order to not repeat history you must learn it, which comes from a George Santayana quote that reads "Those who cannot remember the past are condemned to repeat it". I know that I will have a break down there and it will be incredibly incredibly sad.

Iceland isn't actually that far from us (under 3 hours by plane fyi) and we would love to visit over the Winter period and see the Northern Lights as well as going sledding with huskies. There are lots of beautiful places to visit within Iceland so it will be hard to pick where to stay when we do finally get around to going. I would love to stay in one of those Glass Igloos, they look insane.

Greece is one of those destinations that everyone seems to have visited over the last year or so, me being the exception. Of course, I know this is not true but it looks like an incredible place full of beautiful buildings, charming culture and sunny warm weather. There are a number of places within Greece and it's Islands that I would to visit so that will be a hard chat with the travel agent. Greece looks like a destination that we will keep for when we have a family as it looks very kid-friendly. Since I saw a photograph of the beautiful white buildings in Santorini I have wanted to visit and my dream is not going away without a fight.

If anyone asked me right now where I would go on an all expenses paid trip I will answer Bali. It looks absolutely incredible, one of those places you think you will never afford to visit, I am so hoping I am wrong, but I will get there if it takes me years and years of saving up the pennies, I will get there. Bali is one of those magical places that has everything I want; The temples look incredible and my feet need to be walking the beautiful tropical rainforest and beaches. It looks somewhat similar to Mexico but like a 1st class premium version, no offence Mexico you know I love you. Jatiluwih Green Land looks absolutely insane, don't believe me? Google it. My number one reason for traveling and being in other countries is to soak up the culture and history and Bali is one of those places that has both in buckets. I cannot wait for the day that I can say I'm off to Bali. It'll be a long flight and an even longer saving up period but I hope to be there soaking up the culture and beautiful scenery one day. One day.

This post has intensified my need to travel and I will be dragging Stephen down the travel agents. There are still loads and loads more places I would love to visit. This is just my Top 10 current countries; yup, this is not even skimming the surface. There are so many individual cities and even towns that I would love to visit and writing them all down would take a lifetime. I am hoping to travel a lot more over the coming year and share lots of beautiful places with you on my blog. KDB, katiedoesbeauty fyi, was created as a Beauty outlet but as I've grown I want to incorporate more lifestyle and travel into my space on the internet and I hope you enjoy it.

Let me know what your top 10 places to visit are in the comments below and I would love to hear of your travels so I can add them to my list.

Charlotte Tilbury Magic Night Cream
Charlotte Tilbury Magic Night Cream

Charlotte Tilbury is one of those brands that just makes me swoon and desire the whole range. For my birthday back in July my Husband Stephen took me shopping and one of the counters I ran towards was the Charlotte Tilbury counter. I want and need everything they have to offer and I am slowly purchasing everything. One of the presents I received off Stephen was the Magic Night Cream (here). I had heard so many rave reviews and at £100 it was a steep price but a little goes a long way and it still looks like I haven't used any. This is a very thick, sticky, beautifully scented cream. I have never used anything like this; it is the texture of honey but sinks into the skin leaving you glowing in the morning. It takes a long long time to sink into the skin and can be sticky and leave residue on you and your bed but its something I'm willing to overlook. Just make sure to tie your hair back and not worry about your pillow case.

I would say that you will benefit more from this Night Cream if you are 40+ but even as a skin loving 24 year old I love the effects this has on my skin. It leaves my skin plumped and soft in the morning, and my skin easily absorbs my morning products. I have been using this night cream on/off (I change up my routine ALOT) for the past 4 months and have barely used any product at all; this is very much like an oil where a tiny amount will moisturise your entire face. I absolutely love the scent and how gentle this is on my skin. When applying this thick cream I like to massage my face and give myself a proper pamper evening. As this is such an expensive night cream (I usually spend £30-£40) I would recommend trying a sample first to make sure you like the texture of the product aswell as the results.

What do you think of Charlotte Tilbury's Magic Night Cream? Anything from the brand you would recommend?
