NYE EYE MAKEUP | SEXY SMOKEY EYES

FESTIVE EYE MAKEUP
Festive Eye Makeup

Sexy smokey eyes are my favourite kind of eye look to wear; and this time of year is perfect to show them off. Add to that look some amazing false eyelashes and you've got the perfect eye look for NYE. So I put together two looks that I wear the most and matched the eyelashes to the look to pull it all together. The eyelashes were kindly a PR gift from false eyelashes (dot com) an amazing site dedicated to all things lashes, with over 1,000 lashes in stock theres something for everyone. Visit the site hereNYE EYE

The first look I have created is with the Red Cherry Stevi eyelashes*, here, paired with Charlotte Tilburys Dolce Vita and/or Too Faced Natural eyes to create a more day time appropriate smokey eye. Perfect for meals out at this time of year or an afternoon party where you don't want to go too smokey. I use the lighter shades all over the eye and then deepen the outer V and the crease and blend blend blend. Add the eyelashes and your good to go.

The next look that I created, which I actually wore to my Works Christmas party is this deeper sparkly smokey eye. I used the Too Faced Natural Eyes Palette to create a soft light base and the Charlotte Tilbury Eyes to Mesmerise in Bette on the outer corners and blended out to create a deep smokey eye. I just kept adding Bette until I got it as dark as I could and then used the Illamasqua Pigment in Beguile to add an amazing sparkle all over the eyelid. No photo will ever show the incredible sparkle this beautiful pigment gives off. Then add the Eylure Exaggerate*, here, to make the look even more dramatic.

Two perfect smokey eyes for two different occasions. If you try either of these looks please tag me on Instagram or Twitter (@katiedoesbeauty).

Lush is one of my all time favourite shops ever, add to that my favourite time of year, Christmas, and you have one crazy happy Katie. My favourite Lush scent HAS to be Snow Fairy and this year they have added more to the Snow Fairy scented range. Naughty blogger but I have already used a lot of the Snow Fairy scented products so they are not photographed here but I assure you they are incredible. There are a lot of Christmas products this year, including my favourite, the body conditioner, in a few different scents including Snow Fairy, sweet candy scent, and Christingle, a peppermint and menthol scented cream that you rub into wet skin and wash off to moisturise your skin. Perfect if your lazy like me and hate moisturising after a bath/shower. Another of my favourites is the ButterBear, he's cute and super moisturising, perfect for my eczema and very dry skin.

The Reindeer and Robin fun is coca cola scented and is fun to play with and also makes lovely bubbles in a bath, this is one that kids will love. Lush has the best gift sets and I always make sure to tell Santa how much I love them.

The Lush lip scrubs are a fan favourite as you can just lick them off and this years Santa Baby Lip Scrub will not disappoint. Lush Lip scrubs are a handbag staple for me in the Winter months because my lips get super dry and flakey. I pair this with the Sugar Plum Fairy Lip Tint (not pictured) which is beautiful magenta tinted lip balm. Snowman and Santas Belly are both shower jelly's and I absolutely adore the little snowman. I almost don't want to use him he is so cute. There are still loads of the Christmas range for me to try and a few gift sets I'll be writing to Santa for this year. Hello Snow Fairy Gift set.

B&M CHRISTMAS CANDLES

B&M Christmas Candles
B&M Christmas Candles
B&M Christmas Candles
B&M Christmas Candles

One of my favourite things about the festive months are the candles. I love Candles and will always be burning at least one in my home. Yankee Candle have some of my favourite scents but can be expensive when your burning them at my rate, so whilst browsing around in B&M I noticed these Bath & Body Works dupes. Just look at that packaging; a dead ringer for Bath & Body Works right?! And the best part? They are only £2.99!!! They had 4 scents to choose from: Iced Candy, Winter Mist, Frosted Cranberry and a vanilla scent that I cannot remember the name of; fun fact, I don't like Vanilla scents. The other three though are lovely. Really nice scents withs two wicks and cute little snowflake lids.

I love B&M and all its fab pieces at even better prices. They had a host of Christmas Candles to chose from but these, in my humble candle connoisseur opinion, are the best. I bought 3 versions of each because I am obsessed. Christmas candles are my favourite type of candles and I am currently burning through one of these candles every other day. I hope you are enjoying my Blogmas posts as well as my Vlogmas posts over on YouTube here.

BEAUTY ADVENT CALENDARS I GOT MY HANDS ON

Beauty Advent Calendars
Beauty Advent Calendar Beauty Advent Calendar
The Body Shop Calendar
The Body Shop Calendar

This is my first year taking part in blogmas and I am so excited. I will also be doing vlogmas over on my YouTube Channel here. So welcome to blogmas day one. Last year I had a serious case of FOMO (fear of missing out) seeing everyone opening their Beauty Advent Calendars and this year I was not gonna miss out. I got a little carried away and excited and managed to get my hands on all the ones I wanted. Yay! The first one I picked up was the Space NK one which technically wasn't for sale. It was a gift with purchase on Space NK when you spent over £250; and boy was that easy. I posted a mini haul on Instagram (@katiedoesbeauty). I am not posting any spoilers which is why they have all been photographed closed but I will say that there is a Sunday Riley Luna Sleeping Oil hiding behind those doors.

The second advent calendar I managed to find was the L'Occitane one online. I love L'Occitane products and am so excited to open the cute little doors. The calendar itself is so cute and festive with its illustrated little shop, I love it. You can see whats included on the back of the calendar but I have avoided it as I don't want to spoil it for myself. The M&S calendar was one of the last to be released and personally it was the top of my list because last years was incredible and M&S stocks amazing brands. The M&S Advent Calendar is in a cute little red Christmas Tree which looks so cute on my sideboard waiting to be opened.

The last beauty advent calendar I purchased was The Body Shop Green one. There were 3 The Body Shop Beauty Advent Calendars this year and I really really wanted one but at £60 for the cheapest one I just knew I couldn't indulge on yet another calendar. But!! But, ladies, I was shopping in my local town for Christmas Presents and noticed the advent calendars in The Body Shop were reduced, so for £30 (including £5 voucher off) I got the Green one and couldn't be happier. I now have a grand total of 4 Beauty Advent Calendars as well as a Lindt chocolate one and a little doggy chocolate one for Bella. If you would like to see the contents of each advent calendar I will be vlogging opening them on my YouTube Channel for vlogmas, you can subscribe here.

DYING MY HAIR WHITE/SILVER AT HOME

White/Silver hair at home

I have been a blonde for most of my life; naturally up until around 14 years old and on/off dyed ever since. My actual hair colour is now what I like to call a dirty blonde. Not dark blonde not light brown kind of an in-between nothing colour. As a toddler I had white blonde hair with absolutely no pigment in it and it gradually got darker until well, today. The underneath of my hair is a lot darker than the top, and around my face my hair gets very light blonde. I also get a lot of natural highlights in the Summer, more like when I go on holiday though, coz ya'know British Summer. I get bored very easily with my hair and like to change it up a lot. I have been every colour you can think of and every length too. If you'd like a hair story let me know in the comments. So bored Katie decides she's going white/silver. Yay!

My before hair was virgin hair (no dye at all) mostly, so I knew it was gonna be a tough job and boy it was. I ended up bleaching my hair 3 times to reach the lightness that I wanted and I still have some bits I would like to bleach again; mainly the hair underneath that was a lot darker than the rest that is still very light blonde and not white. I bleached it twice in one day and then another once a few days later. This is totally not a good idea, your hair my fall out if you do this too. But, I have bleached my own hair at home for years and know what my hair can handle, FYI it's 6 bleach jobs in a row. Straw. To bleach my hair I used the Loreal Paris Preference Hair dye in Extreme Platinum. I have very long hair and needed 2 boxes for one dye job. So 6 boxes later my hair is white. I then used the Jerome Russell BBlonde Silver Toner to create a white/silver tone to my hair. This did go a little patchy but I totally didn't mind and I kinda liked it.

Untitled

Untitled

Before and After. Sorry I can only find before's with Snapchat filters, not ashamed to admit the butterfly crown is goals. My hair now is a lot more white/silver in person than it comes across in photos. I absolutely love it. I am going to be going to the hairdressers to get it done when my roots grow through, as I mentioned above, the underneath is still a little darker and the toner, although incredible, starts to fade after one wash. I'm hoping hairdresser grade toner will keep it super silvery for a good month.

I will be updating you on my hair journey over the coming months, as well as updating you on products for white/silver hair and my hair evolution over the years. In the mean time if you want to keep up to date with my hair colour you can follow me on Instagram at katiedoesbeauty or over on snapchat as, you guessed it, katiedoesbeauty.

10 PLACES I CAN'T WAIT TO VISIT

I absolutely love to travel; the adventure, the newness, the atmosphere, everything. So I thought that I would compile a list of places I really can't wait to visit. In no particular order here are my current Top 10 places I can't wait to visit.

Italy

Italy has always been top of my list due to food, Italian is my fave, and the absolutely beautiful cities all over the country. There are a number of places in Italy I would to visit: Venice, Rome, Sorrento, Pompeii and many more. Venice in particular looks absolutely breathtaking. I have always wanted to visit Italy as everyone always has such amazing things to say about it. Back in March I was in Las Vegas, in the Venetian which is based on Venice and when we were walking around the hotel I told my husband, Stephen, that for our first Anniversary we will be visiting Venice. He is slowly coming around to the idea.

South Korea

Me and Stephen have both wanted to visit South Korea for a good couple of years. Stephen mainly for the advanced technology; I really want to experience the culture as well as visit the incredible temples and beautiful scenery. South Korea is so advanced and the standard of living is amongst the highest in the world and their Government is booming.

Canada

We have both wanted to visit Canada for a number of years. We want to experience the culture and do typical Canadian things like watch Ice Hockey and visit Tim Hortons. Haha I'm joking but we do want to do those things. We really want to visit Niagara Falls as well as Toronto, Vancouver and Montreal. I would love to experience a proper cold Winter in Canada and relish in the snow. Typical British girl right?! Recently Victoria from InTheFrow vlogged about her trip with TrekCanada and it looked insane. That would be incredible but probably also cost a years mortgage for us.

America/USA

I have now been to America once and have visited 2/3 states. Nevada and Florida and a layover in Atlanta, Georgia. My absolute dream is to visit every state. I have always had a love and fascination with America. I have always watched and loved American TV and culture and being in America was so amazing and didn't disappoint. I would love to live in America for a little bit or maybe travel the country for a year or so. We will see where life takes me.

Australia

Everyone wants to visit Australia right?! I just love the accent and the standard of living is very high. They have great weather, great people and amazing sights. They also have a place named after South Wales (where I live) called New South Wales, which I need to see. The beaches look incredible, and Australians are known for being outdoorsy people, which I love.  The only thing holding me back is the price, to travel from the UK to Aus is v.expensive and the 24 hour flight. Oh lordy.

Mexico

Me and Stephen holidayed in Mexico around 3 years ago now and it was absolutely beautiful. Looking at it in the holiday brochure it looked incredible and surely the photographs had been photoshoped right? Nope, it is equally as breath-taking maybe even more so with it's beautiful beaches and greenery. I would love to go back and do it all again. We visited the Chitchen Itza, which was insane and as we are both in love with Mayan culture, being there and hearing all the incredible stories was amazing. Truly one of the best holidays ever and we loved it. It's incredibly hot and humid but after a few days you get used to it. For anyone wanting a tan this is the place to go. Me and Stephen both hate sunbathing and being too hot and we still came back more tanned than ever before.

Poland
Poland is one of the more difficult ones to write about. Although me and Stephen would both love to explore the cities of Poland and experience the culture. Our main reason for visiting Poland would be to visit Auschwitz. It is such an awful, awful part of History and we both believe that in order to not repeat history you must learn it, which comes from a George Santayana quote that reads "Those who cannot remember the past are condemned to repeat it". I know that I will have a break down there and it will be incredibly incredibly sad.

Iceland
Iceland isn't actually that far from us (under 3 hours by plane fyi) and we would love to visit over the Winter period and see the Northern Lights as well as going sledding with huskies. There are lots of beautiful places to visit within Iceland so it will be hard to pick where to stay when we do finally get around to going. I would love to stay in one of those Glass Igloos, they look insane.

Greece
Greece is one of those destinations that everyone seems to have visited over the last year or so, me being the exception. Of course, I know this is not true but it looks like an incredible place full of beautiful buildings, charming culture and sunny warm weather. There are a number of places within Greece and it's Islands that I would to visit so that will be a hard chat with the travel agent. Greece looks like a destination that we will keep for when we have a family as it looks very kid-friendly. Since I saw a photograph of the beautiful white buildings in Santorini I have wanted to visit and my dream is not going away without a fight.

Bali
If anyone asked me right now where I would go on an all expenses paid trip I will answer Bali. It looks absolutely incredible, one of those places you think you will never afford to visit, I am so hoping I am wrong, but I will get there if it takes me years and years of saving up the pennies, I will get there. Bali is one of those magical places that has everything I want; The temples look incredible and my feet need to be walking the beautiful tropical rainforest and beaches. It looks somewhat similar to Mexico but like a 1st class premium version, no offence Mexico you know I love you. Jatiluwih Green Land looks absolutely insane, don't believe me? Google it. My number one reason for traveling and being in other countries is to soak up the culture and history and Bali is one of those places that has both in buckets. I cannot wait for the day that I can say I'm off to Bali. It'll be a long flight and an even longer saving up period but I hope to be there soaking up the culture and beautiful scenery one day. One day.

This post has intensified my need to travel and I will be dragging Stephen down the travel agents. There are still loads and loads more places I would love to visit. This is just my Top 10 current countries; yup, this is not even skimming the surface. There are so many individual cities and even towns that I would love to visit and writing them all down would take a lifetime. I am hoping to travel a lot more over the coming year and share lots of beautiful places with you on my blog. KDB, katiedoesbeauty fyi, was created as a Beauty outlet but as I've grown I want to incorporate more lifestyle and travel into my space on the internet and I hope you enjoy it.

Let me know what your top 10 places to visit are in the comments below and I would love to hear of your travels so I can add them to my list.

CHARLOTTE TILBURY MAGIC NIGHT CREAM

Charlotte Tilbury Magic Night Cream
Charlotte Tilbury Magic Night Cream

Charlotte Tilbury is one of those brands that just makes me swoon and desire the whole range. For my birthday back in July my Husband Stephen took me shopping and one of the counters I ran towards was the Charlotte Tilbury counter. I want and need everything they have to offer and I am slowly purchasing everything. One of the presents I received off Stephen was the Magic Night Cream (here). I had heard so many rave reviews and at £100 it was a steep price but a little goes a long way and it still looks like I haven't used any. This is a very thick, sticky, beautifully scented cream. I have never used anything like this; it is the texture of honey but sinks into the skin leaving you glowing in the morning. It takes a long long time to sink into the skin and can be sticky and leave residue on you and your bed but its something I'm willing to overlook. Just make sure to tie your hair back and not worry about your pillow case.

I would say that you will benefit more from this Night Cream if you are 40+ but even as a skin loving 24 year old I love the effects this has on my skin. It leaves my skin plumped and soft in the morning, and my skin easily absorbs my morning products. I have been using this night cream on/off (I change up my routine ALOT) for the past 4 months and have barely used any product at all; this is very much like an oil where a tiny amount will moisturise your entire face. I absolutely love the scent and how gentle this is on my skin. When applying this thick cream I like to massage my face and give myself a proper pamper evening. As this is such an expensive night cream (I usually spend £30-£40) I would recommend trying a sample first to make sure you like the texture of the product aswell as the results.

What do you think of Charlotte Tilbury's Magic Night Cream? Anything from the brand you would recommend?

4 PRODUCTS TO CLEAR SKIN

4 Products to Clear Skin
4 Products to Clear Skin
4 Products to Clear Skin
4 Products to Clear Skin

Hormonal Acne is no joke; it can knock your confidence and make you feel really crappy about your appearance. Up until this year I was incredibly lucky with my skin; then I came off the contraceptive pill and bam!! acne galore. It really caught me off guard at how bad it made me feel. I had always naively thought that skin is skin and who cares about a few spots? Thats clear skin Katie talking; and acne prone Katie disagrees. It was incredibly hard to deal with; especially as I didn't know how to deal with it and done everything in my power to stop it. I tried all of the typical squeezing, popping, scrubbing and the rest; which I now know is everything you should not do to your skin.

It took me a while to find something that helped for me and I wanted to help your guys' recovery from acne go a little quicker. I searched high and low for information on hormonal acne and the Queen of Skincare herself Caroline Hirons had the best information I could find. Caroline and Dr Sam, a skincare consultant, made a video talking about skincare and hormonal acne, you can find it here. They mentioned a few products that could work for you and if they didn't then you may need to see a dermatologist and get a prescription for medication. Medication is always the last resort guys.

The products I chose to try are pictured above. My morning routine went as such:

Cetaphil Gentle Cleanser - link
La Roche Posay Effaclar Duo serum - link
LRP Effaclar H moistursier - link

My evening routine was also super simple with:

Bioderma (to remove majority of make-up)
Cetaphil Gentle Cleanser for a double cleanse
LRP Redermic R (this is the Retinoid) - link
LRP Effaclar H mosituriser

Both super simple and super effective. Four products that continue to keep my acne at bay. When using the routines above I always used a clean face cloth each morning, you can use the same one again for evening, which gave enough of an exfoliation for my skin. It took around a week for my skin to completely clear up the first time and I did get a few occasional small breakouts whilst using the products during my period and other stressful times. After 2 months of continued use I started introducing other skincare products to my routine and thankfully have managed to keep my skin clear and happy.

I still get the occasional breakout, usually when I have been lazy with my skin and not taken makeup off the night before or not double cleansed in the evenings, but overall my skin has been clear since I discovered these products. This is not a sponsered post and I purchased all of these products myself. They will not break the bank but they will make the biggest difference to your skin. I really hope they work for you too. I was considering on uploading a before and after photo but right now I'm just not brave enough.

I would love to know if you try these products and if they work for you. Please tag me in any posts. Good luck on your clear skin journey,

Katie x

LUSH HALLOWEEN COLLECTION 2016

Lush Halloween Collection 2016
Lush Halloween Collection 2016

Lush Halloween Collection 2016
Lush Halloween Collection 2016
Lush Halloween Collection 2016

It's almost Halloween, which means Lush Halloween Collection time!! Lush know how to make an impact when it comes to Holidays, I have just attended not one but TWO amazing Lush Christmas events (and OMG wait for those posts!!!!) so thought it was about time I talked to you about the cuteness overload that is the Halloween collection. I am so excited to show you the Halloween goodies but even more excited to actually use these products, #BloggerProblems; seriously I have been saving these cuties for you guys. Just look at how cute they are.

I was really surprised at just how many pieces Lush have created for this Halloween, and I absolutely love it. Lets start with the cute little Pumpkin bath bomb (the pumpkin with a face) he, I'm calling him Jack, smells like a pumpkin pie; or more like what you dream a pumpkin pie would smell like, vanilla, spice and biscuit. Beautiful. Next we have the Sparkly Pumpkin, an orange bath turning, glittery beautiful fruit scented zesty bubble bar, a solid bubble bath fyi. I love a bit of glitter in the bath, and you can feel good knowing that Lush use plastic free glitter, saving the Earth one bath at a time.

I also picked up the Magic Wand soap as it smelt so beautiful I couldn't leave it there. I can't really put my finger on the scent, fresh and fruity, lingers on the skin and I can't get enough of it. I wish this was a year round scent. Whats that little fairy I hear you say, well that would be Goth Fairy, a pearlescent shimmer bar. A soap like substance that you run over your skin to leave it smooth, beautifully scented and shimmering. Everyone needs a little shimmer in their lives right?! The big pink one with an eye? Thats Monsters Ball, a moisturising, colourful, fruity, cute but scary bath bomb. I think he may be my favourite as I've seen a fair few videos of him dancing around in the bath leaving a swirl of pinks and blues, I am very excited to bathe in this.

And last but not least the cutest little bath melt named Boo, he is a little ghost shaped white bath melt with a spicy and calming scent that will be perfect for a bed time bath. Boo is filled with oils and butters that leave your skin soft and supple, and ready for bed. Another firm favourite of mine, he has been living on my bedroom night stand for these last couple of weeks as his little scent really calms and relaxes me ready for bed; plus, he's super cute.

What do you think of this years Halloween collection? If you want to have a looksy without leaving your house then you can check out the range here
